Profile:
Rokeya Sultana began her artistic journey studying printmaking at University of Dhaka. She completed her Masters from Viswa Bharati University. She has had several group and solo shows both in Bangladesh and abroad.
She has received many accolades for her works. Her works feature a strange intensity and are semi abstract in their style. In 1995, Rokeya received ‘Grand Prize’ from Bharat Bhavan Biennial of Contemporary Indian Art, “Bengal Foundation Award” from 14th National Fine Arts Exhibition of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in 1999, prestigious “Honorary Award” from 9th Asian Art Biennial, “Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Award” in 2002, a French scholarship in 2003 and many other awards at home and abroad. She is currently a professor t the University of Dhaka at the printmaking department.
