Profile:
Jahar Dasgupta is a senior and eminent painter from Bengal. After passing from Kalabhavan, Santiniketan in 1964, his first solo exhibition organized in Birla Academy. In the span of more than 40 years of his art journey, he has many solo and group exhibitions all over India and abroad as an invited artist. He is the founder member of a renowned artist group Painters Orchestra in Kolkata. He is also an active President in Academy of Fine Arts and Principal in Birla Institute for Visual & Performing Arts. Jahar Dasgupta regarded as one of the pillars of contemporary art and a significant contributor of the modernist art movement of Bengal.
