The preview takes place on 7th July, with the launching of the catalogue
raisonné. The next day 8th July, 6pm-8pmnoted art historians and critics
make an appraisal of Bengal Art that includes noted art historian Prof. Ratan
Parimoo, eminent artist Prof. Jogen Chowdhury, art critics Uma Nair, Nanak
Ganguly, Ina Puri . The session will be moderated by Prof. Chhatrapati Dutta,
Principal, Govt.College of Art & Craft, Calcutta. On July 9, an
interactive session will take place from 5.30-7.30pm at the Ballroom
in association with Take On Art magazine.The speakers will be Jogen Chowdhury,
Indrapramit Roy, Samit Das, Soujit Das and Vishwajyoti Ghosh. It will be
moderated by Prof. Parul Dave Mukherji., School of Arts and Aesthetics,
Jawaharlal Nehru University. These are moments of visual felicity at ‘Bengal Beyond
Boundaries’
The gallery has presented works like Early Oil paintings, works done by
Masters and contemporary practitioners who have contributed to the making and
evolution of Indian art. The works at Bikaner House titled ‘Bengal-
Beyond Borders’ July 7-16, 2023; conceptualized by Jogen Chowdhury and
curated by Uma Nair. The accounts and language shall make for a lively
diversity of angles and satisfying narrative styles. Considering what Aakriti
creates a site with works of artists who have been showcased alongwith Masters
to ensure the very best representations of contemporary developments. As the
audience interacts with Early Oil Paintings, the work by Masters and practicing
artists instigate in the audience perceptions, understandings of their own
creative potential in which the works of some of the fresh talents will be seen
with conjunction with that of established artists and Masters.. The accounts
and language that the participants offer, make for a lively diversity of angles
and satisfying narrative styles. The present may be interrogated in an
attempt to decipher in it the heralding signs of a forthcoming event. Here we
have the principle of a kind of historical hermeneutics from Anonymous Early
Bengal, Abanindranath Tagore, Nandalal Bose, Jamini Roy, Hemendranath
Mazumdar, Benode Behari Mukherjee, Gobardhan Ash, Manishi De, Kartick Chandra
Pyne, Somnath Hore, Gopal Ghosh, Rabin Mondal, Ganesh Haloi, Lalu Prasad
Shaw, Ganesh Pyne, Arpita Singh, Jogen Chowdury, Bikash Bhattacharjee, to
Chandra Bhattacharjee, Chhatrapati Dutta, Tapas Biswas and others. These works
that supposedly represent us.
