Pankaj Mistry showcases his recent works at Rabindra Bhavan where his masterful chiaroscuro at once dense and nimble, urgent and orderly, light-hearted and dark; about experiences profound and timeless- like a live wire that crackles from start to finish on bromide/archival paper. An all pervading light permeates through a magic ochre red and burnt sienna. Photographer's description of market place in Trembekshwar or a writer's den in old Goa or Rachol Seminary in Courtolim confirms that feeling of enchantment: for all its perceptiveness is somewhat nostalgic. There are all the ingredients of magic realisme found in Latin American fables of Borges or Marquez.
