Launch of Ask Aakriti & Art Insights

17-07-2026 to 18-07-2026

Today marks an important milestone in the journey of Aakriti Art Gallery with the launch of two new initiatives that reflect the gallery’s continued commitment to innovation, scholarship, and the future of art collecting.

The evening will witness the formal launch of Ask Aakriti, an AI-powered digital art advisory platform designed to assist collectors, students, researchers, and art enthusiasts through intelligent recommendations, contextual search, and knowledge-based guidance on Indian Modern and Contemporary Art.

Alongside it, Aakriti Art Gallery will introduce the inaugural issue of Art Insights, a biannual research journal dedicated to documenting lesser-known histories, artists, collections, archives, and developments in Indian art. Distinct from conventional publications authored by a single writer, Art Insights represents a collaborative research initiative conceived, researched, and compiled entirely by the in-house team at Aakriti Art Gallery—reflecting the belief that meaningful documentation is strengthened through collective scholarship.

The programme will be conducted by Aman Bachhawat, a graduate of the Sotheby’s Institute of Art, New York, together with noted art collector Pradip Bothra and Chhatrapati Dutta, Principal of the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata.

The event will be graced by eminent art historian and critics - Mrinal Ghosh,  Nanak Ganguly, Debdutta Gupta, along with distinguished artists, collectors, scholars, and members of the art fraternity.

Since its establishment in 2005, Aakriti Art Gallery has consistently introduced ideas that have expanded access to Indian art. The gallery pioneered initiatives such as the GenNext platform for emerging artists, the Masterpieces exhibition series showcasing museum-quality works, and was among the first galleries in India to popularise the concept of an Affordable Art Mela, making original art accessible to a wider audience over a decade ago.

With the launch of Ask Aakriti and Art Insights, Aakriti once again seeks to bridge tradition with technology—bringing together research, documentation, digital innovation, and informed collecting. These initiatives reaffirm the gallery’s long-term vision of creating a knowledge-driven ecosystem for Indian art that serves collectors, researchers, artists, students, and institutions alike.

Aakriti Art Gallery welcomes all guests to join in celebrating this new chapter and thanks the artists, collectors, writers, patrons, and well-wishers whose encouragement has made these initiatives possible.
