Alberto Giacometti (1901 - 1966) was son of the neo-impressionist painter Giovanni Giacometti. He began his art studies at the École des Beaux-Arts and the École des Arts Industriels in Geneva. Later he joined Antoine Bourdelle for sculpting lessons. He started his first studio in Paris, 1925. He was inspired by Jacques Lipchitz and Constantin Brancusi.

Alberto Giacometti works had been sold at high prices, some of which includes L'homme qui marche (1960) sold at Sotheby's New York for EUR 66,392,600 in 2010, Grande tête mince (1954) at Christie's New York for EUR 35,943,250 in 2010, La Main (1947) at Christie's New York for EUR 17,404,100 in 2010, Grande femme debout II (1959/60) at Christie's New York for EUR 15,844,150 in 2008, Grande femme debout I (1960) at Christie's New York for EUR 15,083,760 in 2000.
