Mumbai. India Art Festival, a modern and contemporary Art Fair will be hosted at Nehru Centre, Mumbai from November 17 to November 20, 2011, where major art galleries will show the works of great Western and Indian master painters. This is an initiative taken by NGO Kalavishkar under the guidance of Dr. Saryu Doshi, Art Historian and former Director of NGMA, Mumbai, Mrs. Prafulla Dahanukar, senior artist, Rajendra, editor of Indian Contemporary Art Journal and Ms. Anupa Mehta, art consultant, writer and the Secretary of India Art Festival.

India Art Festival, hosting its inaugural art fair at Nehru Centre in a large area of 27,000 square feet, with 116 stalls displaying not only India's premium artists but also western masters. Along with the established artists (at Level-1), there is a democratic space for upcoming artists (at Level 2) who will display their artworks including drawings, installations,  as well as new media art. The total artists exhibiting in the 116 stall will be over 600 and artworks will be more than 1000 including paintings, sculptures, photograph and prints.

It is a celebration featuring fusion shows with art and music, lectures, seminars and interactive sessions, artists' presentations and street performances. There will also be poetry recitations and film screenings.

The galleries participating in the sculpture park includes Gallery Chemould Prescott Rd, Gallery Espace, Sakshi Gallery and others.

The various galleries participating in the group and solo projects are from Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Singapore.

The Art Festival will be showcasing 200 master artists' works from 40 different galleries participating in the India Art Festival from all over the globe with 400 individual artists in the level-2, according to the spokes person of the Indian Art Festival.

The Geopolitical Child and Invisible Man an original litho works by Dali will be on display in the festival. It expresses a complex feeling on life and environment. Patrick Hughes will also be represented in the show by his Around the Corner - three dimensional Painting that highlights architectural labyrinth.

In the Indian Masters, in the show are Nandalal Bose, Rabindranath Tagore, M.F. Husain, S. H. Raza, F. N. Souza and V. S. Gaitonde. The esteemed artists in showcase  include Akbar Padamsee, Laxman Shrestha, K. H. Ara, Sudhir Partwardhan, Jogen Chowdhury, Anjolie Ela Menon, Bose Krishnamach, Ganesh Gohain and many others.
