Kalpana Reddy
Threshold Art Gallery
18 February to 12 March

Kalpana Reddy graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda in 1983. She started working as a photographer when photography was not considered as a form of art in India. She was not fond of exhibiting her works too frequently, though she had a huge volume of works from the 1980s.

The current show showcases her most recent digital works which Kalpana was working on when she passed away (1961-2009) suddenly last year.

The photographs were taken in natural light and in outdoor locations where her main focus was on nature and natural objects.

She used extreme close-ups, vivid cuts, astounding camera angles and surprising lighting decisions, and juxtaposing the subject matter. The trivialities and the objects of daily chores are magnificently portrayed in her photographs.
