306 lots of jewellery were offered for sale by Bonham’s. The highest price went to lot 274, a black opal and diamond cluster ring which was sold for £3,000. The circular shallow cabochon opal displaying shades of red, blue, green and orange, within a border of single-cut diamonds, to a pierced mount, ring size L.

292 lots of jewellery were offered for sale at Christies London. 227 lots were sold for 681,512 (GBP). The highest price went to lot no. 179, a pair of coloured diamond and onyx "Tiger" earrings and a ring, by Cartier, which was sold for £43,250. The earrings designed as pavé yellow diamond hoops with black onyx stripe detail, clip fittings; the ring designed as a pavé yellow diamond and onyx slightly bombé band to yellow diamond borders.

January 20
Christie’s had put up for auction AUDUBON, John James (1785-1851). The Birds of America; from Original Drawings. London: Published by the Author, 1827-1838. The copy of the world's most expensive book, John James Audubon's 19th-century masterpiece Birds of America was sold for $7,922, 500.
This masterpiece of ornithological illustration, captures the variety of birds in the early American republic.

European Furniture and Decorative Arts, Featuring Fine Ceramics

Skinner Inc. had auctioned 851 items of European Furniture and Decorative Arts at its Boston gallery. The highest price went to lot no. 3 Extensive Chamberlains Worcester Regent China Dinner Service which was sold for $22,515.

The jewellery highlight of the auction include a lot 3 item, very impressive Deccani gold ring, circa 1850, with a parrot perched on a circular base of the ring, encrusted with fine Burmese rubies, emeralds and pearls. The estimated price for the item is Rs. 1,90,000 - 2,50,000. The highest price from the Silver section is expected to be lot 68, a very fine and intricately carved Victorian pattern silver comport/ fruit tazza, circa 1900. Its estimated price is Rs. 3,75,000 - 4,50,000. From Furniture, lot 111 is the highest priced item, with an estimated price of Rs. 50,000 - 65,0000 an original burmese teakwood chair, with intricately carved foliage patterns all round with two large snake faces in front of the hand rest, the backrest and seating done in cane. The highlight from the Collectible segment is lot 127, a Dresden clock case is estimated for Rs. 45,000 - 60,000. (P.S. Christie's Interiors will offer 919 lots for auction. The highest lot is expected for lot no. 59 which is Circle of Luis de Morales (SPANISH, circa 1520-1586?), a triptych of The Virgin and Child with the young Saint John the Baptist; Saint John the Baptist on the left wing; Saint John the Evangelist on the right wing inscribed 'ORA PRO NOBIS P ANTONI CONFESOR' (on the tabernacle frieze), oil on panel, in the original engaged frame, the wings extended. The estimated price is $20,000 - $30,000.
